Domaine des Sables Verts is an esteemed winery nestled in the enchanting region of Verrains, within the renowned Saumur Champigny appellation in the picturesque Loire Valley. In 2019, the estate underwent a seamless transition under the stewardship of Caroline Meurée and Hervé Malinge, who bring their passion and expertise to this prestigious domain.
Sprawling across an impressive expanse of 16.50 hectares, the vineyard proudly encompasses five municipalities, namely Varrains, Chacé, Saumur, Souzay-Champigny, and Parnay. A defining feature of the estate's philosophy lies in its commitment to an ecological approach that reveres the environment, achieving this by leveraging the diversity and complementarity of 33 distinct plots, each characterized by unique terroirs.
One of the exceptional attributes of this vineyard is the cultivation of vines in "green sand" soils, which were deposited during the secondary era and boast varying degrees of calcareous content, enriched with glauconia. This distinctive soil composition imparts an unmistakable freshness and a striking concentration to the celebrated Cabernet Franc grapes.
Among their extraordinary offerings, Glouglou stands out, crafted meticulously from forty-year-old Cabernet Franc vines carefully tended on the cherished "Les Dares," "Bonneveaux," "Perruchers," and "Le Bourg" plots. Employing a meticulous winemaking process, the wine undergoes a brief maceration period before fermentation occurs in state-of-the-art stainless steel vats. The ageing process culminates gracefully over a duration of five months in these vats, nurturing and refining the wine to achieve its distinctive character and impeccable taste.
